Today you will learn how much you can earn from nodes, and what the temporary and operational costs are.
Let's start by saying that there are two types of testnets: those that are rewarded and those that are not. In the first case, we already know how many coins we will receive, and we can initially calculate the profit for the work done. In the second case, the project does not say anything about rewards, and we support the node voluntarily, hoping that the project will reward us for it.
IMPORTANT POINT: In most cases, rewarded projects pay much less than those where rewards are not initially discussed.
Our expenses include:
Installing software on your rented server. Daily checking of its operation, fixing any errors (if any), installing updates, etc.
There is no single price for server rental, as each project requires servers with different capacities, and the load on each node varies accordingly. Some servers may cost $5/month, some $15/month, and some $30 or $50/month. All this can be found in the installation guides for each node.
There is no definite answer here, as only the developers can announce the end of the testnet. But on average, it is 3-4 months. There are projects where the node had to be maintained for more than a year, and there are those where the entire event lasted less than a month.
